Android 4.2.2 is set for release this month!

Google is constantly working to roll out its Jelly Bean update in the form of Android 4.2.2 in the end of this month. It is likely to be a minor update that will fix the prevalent bugs and to enhance the performance speed of the Jelly Bean OS. It is also expected to patch the Bluetooth streaming issue in Nexus 7 devices.

Some reports suggested that, Google is already testing the 4.2.2 update on all Nexus devices like the Nexus 4, Nexus7 and Nexus 10. According to the website, Google claims to release it to the consumers by mid-February. These rumors have been there for quite some time since the last couple of months but reporters have already spotted some Google Nexus 4 devices in Malaysia and Brazil that were running Android 4.2.2.

Rumors have it, that Google will be releasing its next Android version 5.0 in-between April and June of this year. This update may also be called as ‘Key Lime Pie’. Google has announced that its next developer conference will take place during May 15 to May 17 of 2013, where they might introduce new android applications for version 5.0. Finally, as only 1.2 % of Android devices run 4.2 Jelly Bean versions, only a few users would be benefited from this update.

New Features Updates Of IOS 6.1

Earlier this week, out of uncertainty, Apple released an iOS 6.1 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This update is the first major update to iOS 6, since its launch in the last year. There have been minor updates before this, such as iOS 6.0.1 and iOS 6.0.2, but they were flawed with issues. The features introduced in iOS 6.1 are not necessarily groundbreaking, but as a fix and improvements to its previous mistakes. Let’s take a look at these features.

  • ‘Siri’ Integration To Search Movies:

Siri has made it extremely simple to find movies, and then buy tickets from Fandango. It is also required to install the Fandango iPhone application to make this feature actually work.  Movies lovers would find this feature to be an extremely fitting update.

  • Apple Maps App:

Apple has definitely improved its Map App with this update. Some of the previous bugs are fixed but hasn’t been solved completely. Along with this it has also added a prominent ‘report a problem’ button.

  • Music Controls:

There is a newly fashioned Lock Screen Music controls in iOS 6.1. When the home button is pressed twice, the music controls pops up. It has been featured to access the music even if the screen is locked. The control interfaces and theme also go well with the Music app itself.

  • Fixed Wi-Fi Issues:

iOS 6.1 on iPhone 5 has resolved all issues from iOS 6.0.2 update. The network connection seems to be strong and stable.

ror41Ruby on Rails framework developers have been continuously releasing security updates since the last two weeks. Its recent updates like 3.0.20 and 2.3.16 versions were to address the remote code execution vulnerability. This was the third security patch released this month. The developers have mentioned that the updates released are extremely important, and have advised the users of 3.0.x and 2.3.x rails framework to update as soon as possible.

The security update will fix the vulnerability in the Rails JSON code. That allowed the hackers to bypass authentication system and inject random SQL into the application database. It occasionally performed denial-of-service attack too. The rails developers have also pointed out that currently it supports only the 2.3.x, 3.1.x, and 3.2.x versions and might release an update for 3.0.x version.

Most recent vulnerability was identified as CVE-2013-0333, which was patched in the framework on 8th of Jan. The Ruby on Rails developers using Rails 2.3 and 3.0 are also advisable to install the new fixes even if they have installed the fix for CVE-2013-0156 earlier.
